As many of you might know, the House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood for a year while the organization is investigated. (Here is an article about the vote and here is an article about the possible consequences if the bill passes). This is unacceptable! Wooster Vox is holding a letter writing campaign to let our representatives know that we are absolutely against this bill. If you'd like to add your voice (you can send letters to your senator or representative at Wooster or from home), follow this link.
Q: Will you be having a GYT this year?
A: Yes!! The GYT (Get Yourself Tested) for fall semester will be next Thursday, September 24th. It'll be in Lowry 119 (like last semester) starting at 4:30pm and ending at 7pm. This year we will only have STI testing, but the Wellness Center is now offering free HIV testing on Wednesdays from 1:30pm til 2:30pm if that's what you're looking for. Look out for Vox tabling next Wednesday and Thursday for free condoms and dental dams! Q: Where can I go to get an IUD?
A: While you can get some forms of birth control like barriers and birth control pills through the Wellness Center here on campus, they do not implant IUDs. For that, you'll probably have to go to Cleveland Clinic, which is located fairly close to campus on Cleveland Road. The Wellness Center on campus does have gynecologists available for appointments on Mondays and Thursdays, if you're interested in talking to someone about what birth control method is best for you. Good luck! Edit: Planned Parenthood in Wooster also offers IUDs, both the hormonal and copper versions. You can either make an appointment or walk in during business hours. More info here. |
